Registration for the 2013 Bele Chere

On July 27, 2013, more than a thousand runners will line up on College Street in downtown Asheville for the start of what may be the historic final running of the Bele Chere 5k. It was recently announced that the future of the Bele Chere Festival itself is up in the air since the city of Asheville may no longer fund the production of the event, so this may very well be the final Bele Chere and the final Bele Chere 5k. The race is legendary and with 33 years of history it is the longest running 5k in Asheville. Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in this historic event, whether you’ve run the race twenty times in the past or if it’s something you’ve always had on your “to do” list.

The 2013 Bele Chere 5K Presented by Mission Health is one of the oldest and largest 5K road races in the region, registering over 1,400 runners in 2012. Race headquarters will again be in exciting Pack Square Park in the heart of vibrant downtown Asheville.  The park stage area will be the site of the post-race celebration, including the finish of the Kid’s Fun Run and the awards ceremony.
Registration for the 2013 Bele Chere 5K is now open at IMAthlete.

  1. Is there a run on the 4 th of July anywhere?

    • There are at least six races that day that I have been able to find. Check the Track Club race calendar or at carolinarunner.com. The ATC Grand Prix race is the Weaverville Firecracker 5K.
