A GRAND PRIX RACE CHANGES DISTANCES!!!
The Folkmoot 5K, a long time staple on the Wired Mouse ATC Grand Prix circuit is changing distances for 2012. The Folkmoot will now be the shortest race on the circuit at 4.01K (2.5 miles). According to the race directors “The Folkmoot 4.01K Run/Walk and Kid’s Fun Run will take place the weekend before the Festival begins on Saturday, July 14 at 8am. New course in 2012! A bit shorter than a traditional 5K race, Folkmoot’s new 4.01K will run through downtown Waynesville, starting on Main Street. More information to come.
THE RAMBLE RUN AT BILTMORE PARK 12K + 5K
The Ramble Run at Biltmore Park was run under very nice race conditions on Saturday May 12. Congratulations to Matt Morse who set a new course record for the 12k with a time of 39:46. Amber Moran was the women’s 12K winner with a time of 45:55. Winners of the 5K were 16 year old Jesse Kovacs in the men’s race and Kelly Wade in the women’s race. The ATC would like to congratulate all of the 839 combined finishers!!

SUMMER BEGINNING RUNNERS PROGRAM
The Asheville Track Club will be offering a Beginning Runners Program starting May 8th and meeting three times a week. The program is a 12 week Couch to 5k training. Upon completion participants will run the Bele Chere 5k on May 28th. The program starts the first week with 1 minute of running and 2 minutes of walking repeated 6 times. After the first week you will slowly build your endurance. The Track Club has been using this system of walk/run training for 14 years. IT WORKS! Over 2,500 people have completed the training. Many have continued running and have gone on to complete marathons. The cost is $25.00 and no pre registration in necessary. the Wired mouse Grand Prix updated through the Ramble Run 12K
The Wired Mouse ATC Grand Prix standings have been updated through the Ramble Run 12K. There were 95 ATC competitors in the Ramble Run 12K and many more in the 5K! What a super turnout. The next race in the GP series is he Burnsville Fit Families 5K on May 19. See the Grand Prix page for details.
VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION PROGRAM
The Asheville Track Club appreciates your help and we want to show it by launching a new Volunteer Recognition Program. All ATC members in good standing are eligible to participate and will be recognized at the end of each year for volunteering a minimum of 5 hours at specified ATC/Grand Prix races and events. In addition, cash prizes will be awarded to the top volunteers with the most hours. How do you participate? It’s simple. Just click on the link to our

Free run for students
The Burnsville Fit Families 5K, an ATC Grand Prix race, has announced that the first 100 students to register for the race on May 19 will receive a free entry! Early registration for non-students in only $25.00. Why not sign the family up for this third annual event?

Is anyone running the 8K State Championship is Salisbury?
If I paid for the triple crown already, how will I be getting my shirt and confirmation that my entries have been received?
Jimmy, All Triple Crown registrations will work just like individual race registrations. There will be a packet/shirt pick up for each of the three races. You will pick up the extra FREE shirt at the Ramble Run.
