The Thomas Wolfe 8k is Asheville’s Oldest Race and honors the life of the famed literary author Thomas Wolfe. In his short life, the Asheville native was known for his short stories, works and novellas. The Thomas Wolfe 8k is a fundraiser for the Asheville Track Club and other literacy related nonprofits. This is Asheville’s oldest and most prestigious running event. First run in 1976, the race will celebrate its 40th year in 2016! This beautiful autumn run/walk highlights many of Asheville’s historic sites! Start at the Thomas Wolfe Memorial House and continue to run past his final resting place. Come on out and see why this race has become a deeply rooted Asheville tradition.
